Australia is among the ten largest destinations for Pakistani salt by export value, and both Australia and New Zealand are established markets for Himalayan livestock licking blocks.
This is the market where our feed-grade blocks matter most. Australian and New Zealand rural retailers stock Himalayan salt licks, and the buyers are agricultural distributors rather than food importers.
Feed-grade goods clear under animal-feed and biosecurity rules, not the food rules that govern our table grades. The two product lines are quoted, documented and cleared separately, and should not be combined on one order without checking that with your broker first.
Import requirements
What an import into Australia and New Zealand involves.
Most suppliers will tell you about their quality. Rather more useful is what your own clearance will ask of you, and where we fit into it.
- Biosecurity import conditions
- Australia publishes import conditions through BICON, the Biosecurity Import Conditions system operated by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Goods for animal consumption, including mined mineral products, are assessed there and an import permit may be required. Search your commodity and intended end use in BICON before ordering.
- Feed grade is not food grade
- Licking blocks are supplied for animal consumption and must not be entered as food salt. The HS code, the certification and the clearance route all differ. We state the grade on every document.
- New Zealand
- New Zealand operates its own import health standards through the Ministry for Primary Industries. Requirements differ from Australia’s and must be confirmed separately rather than assumed to follow the Australian permit.
- Documentation
- Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin. Any biosecurity or veterinary certification required by the permit is prepared once the permit conditions are known.
- Route
- Loaded at Karachi for discharge at your named Australian or New Zealand port. Transit time and freight are confirmed at quotation.
