Supplying Europe and the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom and Germany are the second and third largest destinations for Pakistani salt by export value, and together account for roughly fifteen per cent of it.
European buyers are typically the most documentation-heavy of any market we serve, and the most likely to ask for contaminant testing before they place a first order. That suits how we work: we commission independent analysis rather than forwarding only the supplier’s certificate.
The United Kingdom and the European Union have operated separate regimes since Brexit. Requirements that apply in Rotterdam do not automatically apply in Felixstowe, and both must be confirmed against your own broker’s list.
Import requirements
What an import into Europe and the United Kingdom involves.
Most suppliers will tell you about their quality. Rather more useful is what your own clearance will ask of you, and where we fit into it.
- Contaminant limits
- European food law sets maximum levels for heavy metals in foodstuffs. Buyers commonly require a recent analysis against those limits before shipment. Our independent laboratory programme is designed for exactly this request.
- Labelling
- Prepacked food for the EU and the UK carries mandatory particulars in the language of the market. For bulk salt intended for repacking, that obligation sits with the packer; we pack to your specification.
- UK and EU are separate
- Confirm requirements separately for Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the EU rather than treating a single answer as covering all three.
- Documentation
- Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin, with any health or analysis certificate your importer requires prepared before the container is sealed.
- Route
- Loaded at Karachi for discharge at your named European port. Transit time and freight are confirmed at quotation.
